This year’s Torchlight Parade and Tree Lighting will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 6pm. If you are interested in helping spread some Christmas cheer serving cider and hot cocoa, please contact the church office.
On Sunday, December 14, at 3:00 pm, the sanctuary will resound with the resplendent tones of Handel's beloved oratorio, Messiah. First performed in 1742, this radiant music has delighted audiences ever since. The tradition of amateur singers joining together to sing the choruses during the holiday season is a long-standing one, going back to the Victorian era. We will continue this tradition here, as we sing the Advent/Christmas section with the addition of four professional soloists, and two of our very own. This is a free concert and it is open to the public, so please help spread the word. If you would like to sing and have a score, please bring it; however, scores will be available to borrow at the door.
For many reasons Christmas can be a difficult time. Often the happiness that comes with the Christmas season can heighten our sense of loss and loneliness Please join us in the Miller Chapel for a service of healing and hope with music, readings, prayers, and lighting of candles.
One of the most anticipated Sundays of the year will be celebrated with special music of the season presented by the Chancel Choir, brass quartet and timpani, directed by Allan Conway, Minister of Music. The prelude begins at 8:20 am and 9:50 am.
The UCCT annual Cookie Walk is after both services. Do you remember all of those delicious treats that your fellow UCCT members baked last year? Soft and chewy, sprinkled, filled with candy, drizzled with chocolate…what a wonderful way to kick off the Christmas festivities this holiday season! The Cookie Walk is your chance to bake your favorite holiday treat and to stock up on baked goods for the holidays.
6:00 pm This service will include singing carols and a lovely pageant called “The Promise.” All children are invited and encouraged to participate, and should arrive by 5:45 pm to select a costume.
8:00 pm 11:00 pm Family Candlelight Service featuring the Chancel Choir with the lighting of the Christ Candle and singing Silent Night by candlelight on the Green. A “Midnight” Service, the conclusion of which ushers in Christmas Day. This will feature special solos, the lighting of the Christ Candle, communion, and singing Silent Night by candlelight on the Green.
We will end 2025 with a festive service full of lots of Christmas music!
